Roadshow Outreach

• 20 chosen applicants ​undergo a 3-5 day ​hackathon focusing on ​environmental protection, ​problem-solving, and ​pitching.
  
• Participants receive ​training in various ​technologies and work with ​mentors to develop ​prototypes.
  
• Return to their location to ​develop full proposals.
  

• Conducted in project ​areas: Unguja, Pemba, ​Tanga, and Bagamoyo.
  
• Targets youth engaged or ​interested in waste ​management innovation.
  
• Utilizes UNICEF/UNDP ​data for outreach ​strategy.
  
• Social media and physical ​outreach for maximum ​engagement.
  

Application Selection

• 500 applications narrowed ​down to top 100 based on ​viability, ability to ​implement, projected cost, ​and location.
  
• Committee includes ​members from UNDP, ​UNICEF, local authorities, ​and other relevant ​organizations.
  
• Top 20 ideas selected from ​each location for further ​development.
  

Final Ceremony

• Winners awarded ​equipment, machinery, and ​working capital instead of ​cash.
  
• Ceremony held at ​WasteXlab, with broadcast ​on social media.
  
• Mentorship and webinars ​provided for ongoing ​community engagement ​and awareness-building.
